Research About My Chosen Genre

What is Horror?
A horror is a type of genre that seeks to gain a negative emotional reaction from the audience/ viewers playing on there primal fears. This either makes them appear scared, disgusted, shocked etc. Horror movies have existed for other a century most of the known types of horrors have either a supernatural aspect or gory, There are other types of horrors like Gothic horror, comedy horror. They are all stated in the image bellow.

These are all sub genres that are linked to a main genre.

I have decided to create a stereotypical type of title for the Genre i have chosen. I have portrayed it to be quite gory and having the letters individually leaking down, dripping with blood and also having a bright red colour around each letter of the word 'HORROR'. In a way i think that this symbolizes all the different aspects of horror.

Here i have researched and listed the different types of Film Genres and what a Genre actually is. I have also included a definition of what i think a film is.

Horror, Crime/ Thriller movies; are what i believe to be scary type films that create suspense in the atmosphere, making the audience quite shook, not expecting what is to happen next. These type of genres are also more supernatural/gory based having a few being based on true stories.

Action/Adventure Genres; are what i think as more known for being hero and villain based. This type of genre involves characters or a particular character struggling with life threatening situations where there's a massive outcome.

Comedy; This genre has a main focus on humour, connecting with the audience at the same time. Most of the time Comedy has no intent rather than to amuse, making the audience laugh.

Family; this type of genre is something that the whole family can watch together as they are mainly pg rated, meaning parental guidance.

Drama; this type of Genre is intended to be more serious than humorous to the audience.

Bollywood; this is more on the Hindu side/ Indian movies.

Sci-Fi; i find that sci-fi movies are more futuristic, focusing on peoples beliefs what the future generations would be like. It also focuses on unrealistic things within these types of movies. This genre also relates to fantasy.

 This page mainly focuses on my chosen genre and the History of it. In this page i have included what my conventions of horror are compared to other peoples conventions and how they relate. Meaning what everyone mainly expects to see in a Horror film vs what i expect to see within these types of films.

 I have chosen Horror for my theme because it is a Genre which is well known and currently one of the most popular type for films. I thought that with this being my chosen theme i could create something different to what an audience would expect from a horror. It would have a twist and confuse the audience, making them so anxious so see what is going to happen next.

In this page i have also included what Horror focuses on and what it does to the audience. I have listed the top current Horror films and explained why i have listed them. I have included a few Horror Pictures on this page as i think that its what the audience expects characters to look like within a film.

Here i have typed up my synopsis for my film, but with this as it seems quite hard if i was to film it i am debating on changing it. For now i will keep it as my main synopsis unless i think of something that would be easier to film but creative at the same time.

 To get my synopsis i researched quite a few films that helped me and gave me inspiration to do things a bit similar as i research the types of films were what the audience would like to see more of. Around my synopsis is the particular films titles that i am considering on using. I also asked a few peers which titles out of my list they prefer and these were the ones that they chose. they also explained to me what each title makes them feel will occur within the film. 

My main one that i am definitely considering on using for my title is 'Room 104' and this is because i feel it doesn't give too much away, making the audience more intrigued as they wouldn't know what to expect so its easier for them to 'not' be disappointed the outcomes, because they thought something was going to occur.
With this synopsis it is not definite for what i am going to create but its more of the basics and has similarities to other stories that come to my mind.
